Resistance by Design creates thoughtfully designed, politically opinionated accessories that translate feminist and democratic ideals into everyday visual expression. Alexandra Posen is the artist and creative director behind the brand, which has produced several iconic pieces that helped galvanize modern political movements. Its first major work, the HERWAVE scarf (2018) featured hand-drawn portraits of the 209 Democratic women running for Congress during the historic midterm elections. In 2020, Resistance by Design created the first VOTE mask, which became a defining symbol of civic participation during the pandemic election year and was worn by figures including Hillary Clinton, Stacey Abrams, Megan Rapinoe, Kerry Washington, and others.

Resistance by Design continues to create visually compelling objects that empower everyday activists and amplify movements for democracy and social justice—especially at a moment when democratic norms feel increasingly fragile.
