HERWAVE: Getting to Work

United States House of Representatives Chamber

102 Democratic women won their Congressional elections in November. 24 of them flipped their seats.

Tomorrow, January 3rd, at 12:00 p.m. EST, they will be sworn into the 116th Congress.

This is the most diverse Congress in US history. There will be 102 women in the House. The previous Congress had 87. One quarter of the Senate will be women. There are 23 people of color in the incoming class of freshmen.

The vast majority of both women and people of color elected to this Congress are Democrats.

The incoming class is full of inspiring firsts - from the first Native American women to serve in Congress to the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, and many more.

As they get sworn in, we’re inspired, empowered, and eager to continue to support them.

Let’s get to work!
